James Lovelock LL.B, B.AppMgmt
Managing Partner
James brings wide legal and management experience to his role as Webb Farry's Managing Partner. He began his career as a commercial lawyer and in that capacity worked for Webb Farry in the late 1990's before moving on to become a Partner with a leading Southland practice. Wishing to focus more directly on business leadership and management, James returned to Dunedin and Webb Farry in 2004, initially working as the firm's General Manager and completing an applied management degree, before joining the partnership in 2008.

James leads all aspects of Webb Farry's strategic planning, with a particular focus on practice improvement, business development and staff mentoring. He provides external business advisory consulting services and also has a facilitatory role in relation to some business, property and sports law matters.
James is an external moderator for the Institute of Professional Legal studies and a board member of the Otago Cricket Association and the Southern Golf Foundation Trust. He serves on the executive of Law Alliance New Zealand (a strategic alliance involving Webb Farry and over 40 other New Zealand law firms) and is also a junior coach at the Kaikorai Cricket Club and past committee member and junior coach at the Kaikorai Rugby Club.
